Twice this semester, we’ve posted about Parisian Phoenix author visits to Northampton Community College where our talented art director teaches graphic design.
One of the coolest– and apparently hardest– classes in the journalism program there is “media publications,” where students learn the basics of graphic design to enable them to do their own pagination, dabble in ad design and have some basic grasp of how a publication physically gets put together.
The class usually has students from both visual art and writing backgrounds which makes it an interesting blend.
Ralph Greco Jr. attended the class as a scheduled guest speaker and I visited later in the semester as a pinch hitter (which being as sports minded as I am I had to Google and make sure I was using the phrase correctly).
Read more about Ralph’s visit here.
