The Poetry Preseason

In February, on the first of the month, Parisian Phoenix will be sponsoring the poetry workshop supplies for the Noble Quills Poetry Workshop and Open Mic at the Barnes & Noble, Southmont Shopping Center, Bethlehem Township, Pa. The event starts at 7 p.m. in the Barnes & Noble cafe, which their cafe staff is amazing (and it’s pistachio season at Starbucks.

I will have at least 10 custom swag bags, first come, first served. Since some of these materials were like gathering hot dog buns and the actual hot dogs— the multiplication factors did not add up— I aimed for 12 identical bags, but had trouble finding enough matching gift bags to fit the 12 clipboards I have. But I have lots of smaller bags, so there will also be an opportunity to collect pens, stickers, and bookmarks and, other, as our poet Darrell Parry would say, ephemera to gather.

And also in poetry news, Eva Parry, best known for her tarot journal, Shuffling and Scribbling, will be featuring at the March 14 Noble Quills event. (And March 14, for those who might like trivia, is the birthday of Étienne d’Amille, one of the protagonists in my Fashion and Fiends horror series, which I hope to release volume four, Road Trip, late this spring.)

And for poetry month in April, I will be one of several small presses featuring at PoetPallooza II, also at the Barnes & Noble in Bethlehem Township, on April 6. The event will feature a great line-up of poets and Parisian Phoenix will be there to answer questions about publishing.
