Join the celebration (and come buy books) at the Palmer Park Mall

Recently, I committed to a vendor shelf at the Blue Flame Retail Store to display and sell our books.

We designed our display this month to highlight our poets in honor of National Poetry Month.

This Saturday April 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Blue Flame Events will host its grand opening celebration at the store in the Palmer Park Mall. I will be there in the morning and again in the afternoon because I’m also committed to Poet Pallooza II at Barnes & Noble at the Southmont Shopping Center in Bethlehem Township, Pa.

Please, please pretty please… even if you’ve given up all allegiance to malls or think the Palmer Mall has died, come down and check it out.

Blue Flame Events is based in Bangor, Pa., and they are one of the area’s best event planners. They have carefully curated and organized the store to highlight various small businesses from throughout the Lehigh Valley and Slate Belt.

I took my teenager down to the store on opening day and she gave it her approval and willingly spent my money. I think anyone who checks it out will be surprised at the merchandise they have.

And the mall itself has some old favorites: Boscov’s, The Hallmark Store, Claire’s, Spencers, and Rainbow. And get yourself a blizzard at DQ!

But it also has some eclectic businesses like a wig salon, the comics store, the Boba shop, the general store, Spin Me Round records, the arcade, Eva’s Bargain Boutique (where one can find all the witchy things), Asian Gifts, and the furniture store where my teenager swears she found my next couch.

I was there on Monday and the empty Easter Bunny station felt post-apocalyptic and then I remembered it was the day after Easter.

Consider stopping down since so many of these merchants are working so hard.
