Rebel of the week from a long time ago

I am definitely a fan of Sacha Black and her Ruby Roe pen name. I have been listening to The Rebel Author Podcast for about three years.

In early 2023, I submitted to her “Rebel Story of the Week” and thought I was never selected to air.

Well, today a funny thing happened. It’s cold. It’s rainy. And I’m still emotionally exhausted from the “high” of the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Conference. And I’m physically exhausted from an injury I acquired in a fall three weeks ago that is interfering with my comfort while sleeping.

So part of me was kinda needing a sign from the universe that the hard work is “worth it.”

I was helping our own Larry Sceurman with his Substack newsletter, “Larry’s Stories,” with a rather long essay about the Sisters of Fate. I wanted to link his books and some other material and as I was looking for those links, I did a Google search of “Angel Ackerman” “Parisian Phoenix” and “review.” I was looking for an essay I wrote about how to leave book reviews on various platforms.

What I found was an episode of Sacha Black’s Rebel Author Podcast featuring me and Parisian Phoenix Publishing as her Rebel of the Week!!!! See the transcript here.

Now, if you read or listen, please note I may have some of my dates wrong. I wrote the letter based on my memories.

This is what Sacha said after reading my letter:

“This is an awesome, awesome rebellion. And yeah, look up Parisian Phoenix if you are interested in finding out more about them. I think this is such a cool rebellion, and the fact that you are creating communities and collecting people and helping to bring diverse voices into the world is just fantastic. So I absofuckinglutely love that rebellion. And also thank you for listening.”

I asked myself, “How did I miss this? For a year…”

And then I realized. Sacha released this to the public March 8, 2023. I ended up in the emergency room March 13, was admitted, and spent the next few weeks out of work. That’s how I missed it.

Since this aired, we’ve added a children’s imprint (with its fifth book coming out next week), an erotic imprint with a BDSM anthology and TEN more books.

No wonder I’m tired.
