We all have subjects that spur passion within us. We all have hobbies.

Parisian Phoenix’s art director Gayle Hendricks has always been keenly interested in and a defender of women’s rights, ecology and the environment, the arts, and good type.

Gayle lives in her childhood home. Like many people who have cared for parents or even older siblings, she has had to sort through lifetimes of possessions.

Gayle is a graphic design educator. She teaches at local colleges, working with students of all ages, writers, artists, and those who haven’t quite decided what they want to do. So, she maintains a blog on design topics and today she examines book production and design from fifty years ago.

It’s amazing how the technology has changed in just my lifetime.
