If you like your poetry in the comfort of your own home, Stick Figure Poetry released its fall issue a few days ago, edited by Darrell Parry, author of Twists: Gathered Ephemera and founder of that online poetry publication that began life as a program at Mary Meuser Memorial Library.
Poet and familiar face at Parisian Phoenix Nancy Scott has a piece in this issue, “How to Write a Poem.”
And if you really do want to go out and experience poetry, but you just can’t find the time last minute, I thought I would highlight some of the poetry events at the upcoming Easton Book Festival, October 13-20.
- October 18: Open Mic at Centre Square, 6:30 to 8 p.m., hosted by Lehigh Valley Poetry and Noble Quills
- October 19: Puppets and Poetry, 4 p.m., Book and Puppet Company
- October 20: Small Press and Author Expo, 12 to 4 p.m., auditorium, Sigal Museum. This is where you can find some of the poets and/or poetry books.
- October 20: Open Mic Magic, Social Tour
- October 20: Words from the Youth, Student Writers Spotlight, featuring the Lafayette [College] English Club, 4 p.m., Book and Puppet Company

And in November— if you mark your calendar that far in advance— McKenna Graf and Darrell Parry will feature at Noble Quills November 14 at Book and Puppet Company, in their shiny new digs at 161 Northampton Street, Easton. We’re discussing a pre-feature workshop exploring using everyday life in your poetry.
Meanwhile, there are lots of chances to attend Zoom open mics hosted by Lehigh Valley poetry groups and so many regular open mics at bookstores and coffee shops, and event more local poetry magazines and performing artists. I can’t even pretend to know them all— though I know Magnus tries to keep a list of them all.
