Replacements for NaNoWriMo

Published by

on

Since classic novel-writing event NaNoWriMo went up in flames last year, I’ve noticed two competitors starting their own writing month in November, one with cash prize.

  • Reedsy Novel Sprint with a $5,000 prize, details here. (It looks like only paid subscribers to their services can enter for the monetary reward.)EDIT: A representative from Reedsy, Savannah, contacted me about their contest and clarified some details…“ANYONE can enter the final contest for free, not just our paid subscribers. Our Reedsy Studio tool will be 100% free to use during November and the final contest will be free to enter as well… I can see how the landing page is worded confusingly. The ‘Step 2’ there means that everyone who completes the challenge will be given premium features, not that they must pay for them. It’s part of the prizes, basically.”
  • ProWritingAid Novel November, details here. They taut 150 live writing sessions with mentors, of which they list about 40 on the homepage.
