Promoting Writing

Last night, after the snowstorm, I curled up on the couch with the dog (eating boxed macaroni and cheese and Chick-fil-A nuggets) and watched half of comedian/author David Nihill’s Shelf Help. I didn’t expect an Irish comedian to have a special involving reading recommendations. (It’s on YouTube if you want to watch: Shelf Help.)

Nihill’s book, Do You Talk Funny?, came out in 2016.

An exciting update for the writers, Parisian Phoenix will launch a writers’ drop-in at Mary Meuser Memorial Library, 1803 Northampton Street, Easton, Pa., for two weeks in February. I will be at the library annex from 4 to 7 p.m. on both Feb. 17 and 24 to provide writing space and discussion about future free writing workshops at the library. Our goal is to host a writing event once a month.

For those of you looking for a craft and career boost, the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group will host its annual conference (The Write Stuff) from March 12-14 at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Center Valley, Pa. Conference chair Donna Brennan and I appeared on WDIY’s Lehigh Valley Arts Salon with Kate Scuffle discussing the conference on Monday, January 19, 6 p.m. For more information about the conference, visit GLVWG.org and to stream the program, visit Spotify or WDIY.org.
