The celebration for Nancy Scott’s 1,000 career bylines included candy cigarettes, espresso, and croissants reminiscent of the beat poets in a long-lost mid-twentieth century Paris cafe. Let me give you this video of Nan reading her poem “The Knife,” which appeared in Disabled Tales, an online journal from the United Kingdom, as byline 999. You can see the original post here.

Next month, Brian Mahoney’s second poetry book Discovering Sea Glass will launch on his birthday, February 13. He is planning a visit to Firefly Books in Kutztown, Pa., date not set yet, for an open mic.

Next on deck for poetry, we have R. Diskin Black’s The Night of Swaying Grass with I believe an official release date of April 1. Black will be the April speaker at the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers group. He will discuss the intersection of poetry and memoir, which is something he explored in this book.
Both books are available for preorder. You can find Parisian Phoenix titles on our curated shop via Bookshop.org and designate your favorite bookseller to receive the sale.
Then, also in April, we are releasing Kathryn Dohrmann’s second chapbook in the Stark Ravine Mad series, Mszkoze, Red She Is. Dohrmann has two readings scheduled this spring in the Chicago area: Feb. 15 at Secret World Books in Highland Park and April 13 at Lake Forest College (see below for details). The latter event may include an appearance by Ben Goluboff, who penned Group Portrait, a book of speculative biographical poetry, with Mark Luebbers.
