A strange little week

This has been a bizarre little week.

Monday, I met with Allison Stein about her upcoming episodic middle grade, 2062, due out in August. She’s working with illustrator Joe Swarctz of the Echo City Capers series to highlight the futuristic adventures of Sally in Spectropia.

Energized from that meeting, I headed to WDVR 89.7 fm in Sergeantsville, N.J., the small but mighty station sits in rural but lovely Hunterdon County, N.J., but reaches the Lehigh Valley and Bucks County areas of Pennsylvania.

Station Manager Carla van Dyk wanted me to meet Andy Kin and the rest of the team at Let’s Talk, their Monday afternoon current affairs talk show. I wanted to talk to Carla about using the remaining funds from my Pennsylvania Creative Entrepreneurship Grant to host a “Take the Mic.”

That experience proved even more uplifting, but more on that a few paragraphs down.

Tuesday brought a lot of meetings, Wednesday brought my regular morning session with Nancy Scott and an afternoon of teaching at Northampton Community College, and one other addition— the second dose of my shingles vaccine. And a heat wave.

So, Wednesday night and Thursday brought a fever, a power outage and the last episode of Season Two of The Pitt.

Today, I’m playing catch-up, running errands, and enjoying a slightly cooler yet still summery day.
