Like Larry, I wanted to remind people that today is about honoring those who died in military service of our country. Especially in the modern era when we forget about the age of a conscript army, when young men were drafted into situations they didn’t necessarily want to join. But they went. Some didn’t come home. Some are known dead and some are just missing.

So, if you find yourself complaining that the rain today ruined your picnic, take a moment to remember what today is really about. And if you’re lucky enough to have a day off, be grateful for that as well, because so many people (from healthcare professionals to fast food workers) don’t have that luxury. And if you have a paid day off today, that’s more for which to be grateful.
