July 11 Celebration at Palmer Mall

The summer season of celebration for #50Books5years enters its next phase as we approach our poetry reading and book signing event at the Made in the Neighborhood Store at the Palmer Park Mall, Easton, Pa., on July 11.

This event will have a variety of authors on hand, including myself, Thurston Gill, Darrell Parry, Nancy Scott, Wayne Sherrer (and others who are still finalizing their schedules for the day).

At 1 p.m., Thurston will give a pet and people CPR demonstration, as part of his work in emergency preparedness. Thurston has been with us for several years now, as the author of The Phulasso Devotionala devotional based on how to protect your family in a violent world and still adhere to basic Christian principles. While it is Biblical-based, it does offer some food-for-thought about what it means to be a good person (even if you aren’t religious).

At 3:30 p.m., we are hosting a poetry reading and open mic, with Darrell Parry leading. Other features include Vanessa Violette Vicario and Nancy Scott.

Meanwhile, in the outer mall area, Blue Flame Events will be hosting their third annual Land of Curiosities Festival that day, so you can peruse the oddities on display. And since it’s Heritage Day in downtown Easton, you can also use the mall as a launch book before your attendance there or as a cool-down after.
