Serendipity in Europe

Published by

A fun little story from France for Bastille Day.

Echo City illustrator Joseph Swarctz recently returned from a European cruise.

Joe wanted to bring me back a souvenir so he stopped at a used bookstore in Marseilles, France (a city I also have visited) and, not speaking French, picked a book he thought I’d like based on its cover.

It’s an original French translation of Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada— which is one of my favorites. Lauren is a Lehigh Valley native. She graduated from Parkland High School.

I was pitching my first book of the Fashion and Fiends series almost 30 years ago, and my elevator speech was “Stephen King rewrites The Devil Wears Prada.”
