The pitter patter of little cat feet: the evolution of ‘the cat book’

We hope to send “the cat book,” As the FURR Flies, out to design and copyright by August 15. We have drafted most of the personalized content that discusses some of the rescuers and some of the special cats, but still have some work to do on the cat resource section we are compiling for the back.

This book will benefit Feline Urban Rescue and Rehab (felineurbanrescueandrehab.org). Parisian Phoenix has donated the labor and the production costs and the first case of books. Proceeds from the sale of those print books will go directly to the rescue and Parisian Phoenix will continue to donate print copies as we are able. The retail price will be $19.99.

Any proceeds from Internet or hard copy sales through Parisian Phoenix will defray the cost of foster Touch of Grey’s medical bills when she experience the neurological side effects of flea med toxicity. She almost died. Touch of Grey is the cat featured on the header of our web site and a foster of Publisher Angel Ackerman.

Once profit exceeds Touch of Grey’s medical bills, the remaining royalties will provide more books for the rescue to sell at events.

What You Will Read In As the FURR Flies:

  • discussion of cat health issues like distemper and “wobbly cat syndrome”
  • the dangers of cat bites
  • stories of cats overcoming neglect
  • what cats can teach children
  • how to care for an itty bitty kitten with no mother
  • the value and strategies of TNRR (Trap, Neuter, Return, Release)
  • why people rescue and what they gain doing it
  • how to integrate cats
  • how to socialize using the “Spicy Cat Burrito” method
  • ideas to medicate your cat
  • the adventures of a therapy cat
  • poetry and essays featuring cats
  • thoughts from a former social worker on the need for community involvement from different socio-economic and racial groups to help neighborhood cats
  • lots of generic cat advice!

… and as any marketer would say “and so much more!”
