Writing Dirty Words— memoir? craft book? humor?

Ralph Greco Jr. launched in July his latest title, Writing Dirty Words (buy it here or from your favorite source of books, remember all of our titles are available through Ingram). It finds itself the #1 hot new release in “erotica fiction writing reference” on Amazon. Ralph has some honest but still witty thoughts about this niche success. Read his thoughts here. Allow me to quote:

Therefore, one can conclude– as I report here with all humility– if there are lots and lots of books like mine, and my book has only been out a few weeks and, furthermore, has not sold in any kind of numbers to warrant such placement, Amazon either has a wildly skewed sense of reporting their sale numbers and book accolades or their algorithms are not based on any facts one can truly count on…

So, on we go. Am I thrilled by the listing? Sure… for all that it’s worth. I take these things, as we all should, with a big grain of salt. And when I have bragged about this #1 positioning, I have done it as sardonically as I have here. Will it sell me more books? Who the hell knows.

On an interesting side note. #3 of the Hot New Releases in Erotica Fiction Writing Reference is Confessions of a Reluctant Erotica Writer by Tori Ross, released about two weeks before Ralph’s book and appears to be an uncanningly similar manuscript to Ralph’s, but written from a female perspective, with similar humor and voice.

Her chapters even sound similar to Ralph’s and I, as publisher, am contemplating ordering a copy to review and perhaps approach Tori about the prospect of doing some humorous cross-promotion.
