Parisian Phoenix Publishing

I don’t really like to chat, post, blog or talk about myself or my doings, but last week was unusual in that I seemed to have a lot coming my way via my writing.

And one extra special event that really tickled my giblets… and without a tickled giblet, what are we really?

I had occasion to speak to Gayle Hendrick’s Media class at Northampton Community College Thursday last. Gayle is the amazing art director of Parisian Phoenix Publishing and an all-around wonderful person. She occasionally has pros in the ‘arts’ come to speak to her class. I was honored she asked me to come have a jaw with her students and dutifully cleaned-up for the occasion.

I have a pretty solid background in performing for or standing in front of folks and jabbering away, still I had no idea what to expect from what turned out to be five students (one guy, four ladies), all pretty damn bright-eyed and smart. But as we got into what turned out to be about and hour-and-a-half jaw, it all felt more like a deep discussion with new friends then a lecture…which I had never planned my visit to be anyway.

It was a great time. I learned so much and hope the students were entertained.

The next day, due to one of the many kinds of writing I do (connect to the Juicy Bits antho Parisian Phoenix just released) I happened by New Jersey’s version of the EXXXOTICA fan porn convention on Friday night.

A two-hour walk through the huge NJ Expo Center space in Raritan, grabbing pics, hugs and video for my podcast, Licking Non-Vanilla, I sailed home for my annual stop at Clinton Station diner post the convention only to find the roads in and out of the diner were being paved and therefore closed.

Diner, denied!

The next day Joe Swarctz and I managed to take part in selling our Echo City Capers books (hardcovers published by Parisian Phoenix) at Easton High School annual holiday fair. It’s always a good time hanging with Joe and meeting friends and fans of our books.

I also learned last week that I will be writing a monthly “Writing Dirty Words” column (fashioned after the trade paperback book I recently had published from Parisian Phoenix) for UK magazine Darkside (only 18 and over please). So, that will be super fun, I am sure.

So, lots doing with little old me. And now, enough of my yapping!
