Last year, Parisian Phoenix tabled at an event with Disability Pride PA at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Nancy Scott wrote about the experience and created an essay of writing prompts that appeared in the current issue of Magnets and Ladders.
Magnets and Ladders is a disability-themed publication. You can read the issue here.
The screen shot below shows some, but not all of the piece, which highlights quotes from non-fiction essays by authors Tiffani Burnett-Velez, Thurston Gill Jr., Darrell Parry, Eva Parry, Nancy and myself, Angel Ackerman.
My hope with our participation in the event was to encourage discussion about different disabilities and perspectives, and it brings me great joy that Nan has continued that conversation with this essay.

We did not participate in Disability Pride PA 2024, only because it conflicted with our special publishing house event at our local Barnes & Noble. I hope you’ll take a minute to read the issue of Magnets and Ladders and recognize the work that organization is doing.
The gallery below shows Nan in her green glasses, Angel and Dr. Tiff of Maverique Therapeutic Services reading an Echo City Capers story about bullying, and our table at the event, with Nan’s poetry chapbooks in the foreground with some of the quotes she mentioned in the essay recently published.
