Happy Book Birthday to the second edition of Paul Barclay’s Kondo the Barbarian, which officially released yesterday. Paul is a professor of history at Lafayette College, where he specializes in Asian studies. You can learn more about Paul here. This book was originally published by Eastbridge Books Press in the United Kingdom but was out-of-print.
This work explores the Japanese colonialism of Taiwan, the Musha rebellion of 1930 (less than 100 years ago!) and the oppression/decimation of the Seediq people. Post-colonial studies is a passion of mine, as examining the actions and impacts of past empires offers an understanding of contemporary world politics.
