Thurston D. Gill, Jr.

Thurston D. Gill Jr.’s first book, The Phulasso Devotional: Engineering the Warrior Priest for Dark Times, released in mid-March 2023.

Thurston’s unique path has allowed him to speak on the combination of spirituality and security because of his career in security and his experience as an ordained minister and former mental health recovery specialist and intensive case manager.

Originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, Thurston has worked in retail loss prevention, law enforcement, healthcare & campus security, private security, and training others in first aid, security and survival.

He maintains competencies in the following disciplines: Biblical Mental Health Recovery, Basic Life Support/First Aid in austere environments, Emergency Preparedness, Armed/Unarmed Personal Protection, and Third-Party Protection.

He resides in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania with his wife (and his dog, Buxley). He is a security manager for an online retail fulfillment facility from which he will soon retire.

He says he has been blessed with opportunities that enabled him to acquire experiences and skills that he enjoys sharing at every opportunity through workshops, groups, and other training activities throughout the years.

He hopes to share his blend of spirituality and personal protection through Phulasso workshops.

He currently teaches through Worldwide Training Academy Services. If you wish to see upcoming class offerings, click here.

About his book, he says, “The Phulasso Devotional: The Engineering of the Warrior Priest is my contribution toward fulfilling my ministry for the safety & security of the community at large.
It contains biblically-based safety and security concepts and principles that I have learned in my relationship with Christ Jesus and my careers in Law Enforcement, Safety & Security, and Mental Health Recovery, which comprise the system of Phulasso (pronounced foo-las’-so).

Phulasso is an ‘all-powers’ approach to security and protection with a focus on emergency preparedness, readiness, response, and recovery planning.

‘All-powers’ refers to the integration of our spiritual, physical, and mental abilities, along with a multi-disciplinary safety and security doctrine to seamlessly prevent, recognize and respond to multiple potential or active hazards and threats quickly, intelligently, and simultaneously to guard against harm to ourselves, families, and communities, such as:
• Acts of Physical Violence
• Fire and Medical Emergencies
• Man-Made and Natural Disasters
