A Thanksgiving Romp through Parisian Phoenix Updates

It’s a quiet, crisp and very sunny Thursday morning, a particular Thursday morning known here in the United States as Thanksgiving, a holiday with some controversial history. Does the holiday celebrate the survival of the colonial settlers? Does it glorify the annihilation of the indigenous population? Was it merely an attempt to unite battling political attitudes after the Civil War? Or does it aptly highlight our national tendencies toward gluttony? Or perhaps an opportunity to really consider the concept of “First World Problems”?

Regardless, to lighten the mood… Let’s take a moment to load up Spotify and listen to the closest thing (at least in our book) to a Thanksgiving carol: Arlo Gunthrie’s Alice’s Restaurant.

On a personal note, Parisian Phoenix has quite the gratitude list for this particular Thanksgiving. We launched this publishing company in September and while we only have two novels by Angel Ackerman available right now… We have two more books coming in December and even more coming in 2022.

Parisian Phoenix books are distributed through Ingram, so readers can order them via all your favorite retailers: Amazon.com, Target.com, and Barnes & Noble; overseas via web sites like FNAC; and if you want to support local independent booksellers, you can even find it on Bookshop.org.

Our first case arrived yesterday. We posted a video via Facebook live of the unboxing. Keep in mind, we have a from-the-publisher direct special. If you would like to order either Manipulations, the first book and a hybrid of horror fiction and chick lit (or perhaps dark paranormal romance if there is such a thing), or Courting Apparitions, the second in the Fashion and Fiends series that can be read as a stand-alone ghost story, you can email us at ParisianPhoenix@gmail.com and order an author-signed copy shipped to your door for $20 via Venmo (US only, let’s discuss if you need them overseas).

If you want both novels, we can send those to you for $30.

But if neither chick lit nor horror fiction are your genre, we have more books coming! Want a lighter read more within the traditional range of contemporary romance? Consider Trapped by Seneca Blue, coming in mid-December. Want to bypass prose entirely? The official launch date for Darrell Parry’s debut poetry manuscript, Twists: Gathered Ephemera, is December 6.

As these books come into inventory, the publisher’s deals for author-signed books will expand to include them. It will still be one book for $20, two for $30, three for $40, etc.

And neither poetry nor fiction excite you, our first nonfiction book should arrive by the end of January. We’re compiling an anthology featuring various marginalized identities entitled, Not an Able-Bodied White Man with Money. The project is in editorial, waiting for a few authors who haven’t made the deadline. By mid-December, the project will move to the design phase while we wait for the copyright from the Library of Congress.

And if none of that excites you, also in 2022, we will launch our erotica imprint. So, stay tuned.
