Having fun with the business

Happy Monday to all my Parisian Phoenix readers and supporters!

Today, I, as publisher of this lovely small press, went to Staples with my lovely daughter and my business debit.

I needed paper, envelopes and some other potential items.

And, being a smart and frugal business owner, I headed to the clearance section— after spending 15 minutes comparing price, weight and brightness on copy paper.

I found this ginormous mug. It was at least 64 if not 128 ounces and it read, “I’m kind of a big deal.”

The clearance price was $12. Now, in a world where a ream of white copy paper can range from $5 to $15, a $12 supersized mug makes sense.

I put it back.

In part, because the envelopes were $20. But I did buy the thick Dixon Ticonderoga pencils with the sharpener. I’m a pencil snob and I only use Dixon Ticonderogas. I won’t even use mechanical pencils.

And I got a cute little plastic envelope for receipts and checks.

Maybe I should have gotten the highly impractical mug.

But with a mug that size— does that mean I can list my monthly coffee delivery as a business expense?

I hope everyone has a good week.

And I hope your mug spills over.
