More than Independent Bookstore Day: Celebrating the Creative Family

Today, National Independent Bookstore Day 2023, Parisian Phoenix Publishing connected with the Arts Community of Easton at Book and Puppet to celebrate fine art, the written word, and, of course, independent booksellers.

National Independent Bookstore Day is set by professional booksellers’ trade organizations, and this year it happened to coincide with the Arts Community of Easton Open Studio Tour. As Maryann Riker, a local artist who works with us on a lot of books, is an ACE member, I thought it would be beautiful to connect the fine arts with the literary arts.

So, I approached Andy Laties, of Book and Puppet, and he invited us to submit programming ideas.

I think, for right now, I want to post a gallery of photos and perhaps tomorrow post highlights and reflections.

And at one point in the day, as I invited him to come have pie with us for Joan Zachary’s birthday, Andy said it best when he said, “It’s like you’re all a family.”

I pride myself on how Parisian Phoenix authors and staffers work as a team to build a book that not only is something we as publishers want to sell but to create something that brings to life the author’s dream when he/she/they wrote the book.

What a great day to close out the Parisian Phoenix celebration of National Poetry Month.
