Parisian Phoenix Publishing

When Gayle designed the logo for the faux publisher who would later become Parisian Phoenix— I didn’t think much about the color pink.

But a decade later I painted my bedroom the same color as the logo and about three years after that I said, “Gayle, let’s launch Parisian Phoenix.”

So tonight I am sitting in my pink room with my pink lights, surrounded by pink…

And I want to share author resources with you.

In Podcast form.

I still don’t consider myself a podcast fan, but in my day job I have a lot of time to think. I am also allowed to listen to music or podcasts during my day.

I listen to my podcasts via Spotify, so if you search for Parisian Phoenix or Angel Ackerman you may find my playlists.

Good luck understanding them if you do.

But some podcasts of interest and why I like them:

• People’s Guide to Publishing: Put out my Microcosm Books, an independent publisher that also distributes hundreds of books. They recently opened a second warehouse— so they now have access to most of the country very quickly. They have great insights on not only how to publish, but also on how to gain profits without sacrificing quality. Episodes are usually 15 minutes or less.
• The Self-Publishing Show: I don’t enjoy the hosts of this one, but they usually have good nuggets in each episode. This show focuses on being an indie author.
• Novel Marketing by Author Media: his focus is on marketing, and he gears his information to various kinds of authors. He keeps current and I always make it to the end of an episode. 100% professional— so not much time is wasted on chit chat.
• How Do You Write: this host makes her living writing, keeps her episodes tight, and while I may not always enjoy her process, she has great guests and good advice.

I had hoped to list my five favorites, but out of the ten or so others I have sampled none stands out as a must listen.
