As The FURR Flies, an anthology of cat stories, heart-warming tales from cat rescuers, cat resources and cat advice has gone from in the pipeline to full-on pre-production.
The editorial team is sifting through stories while the volunteers of Feline Urban Rescue and Rehab are compiling their mini-memoirs and sending us their cat wisdom. Photographer Joan Zachary has combed through her photos, and shadowed the volunteers at a recent pre-adoption meet-and-greet and through some basic vaccines and deworming treatments.
The book will appeal to established cat lovers, curious people and those hoping to adopt or in the throes of owning their first cat. Parisian Phoenix Publishing will donate copies to the rescue to be sold at future events at 100% profit for the rescue and online sales will offset recent vet bills specifically for foster Touch of Gray. She’s the cat on our web site’s header.

Just some of the topics already in the folder to head to our layout department:
- Raising tiny kittens
- General cat advice
- Life on the Hissy Spitty Sun Porch
- Taming Ferals
- “If she were a cat,” a poem by Darrell Parry
- “The Hunter,” flash fiction by Angel Ackerman
- Untitled cat story by Seneca Blue
- A Mothering Journey: How getting my daughter clean from heroin led to fostering
- Carrot F. Patch: The Kitten who Grew into a Human Baby
